Dumaguete hosts triathlon interclub

The people of Dumaguete City will be treated to a battle royale on the club competition of the National Triathlon Trials and second Inter-Club Championship on Jan. 14 in Dumaguete City organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) with the Dumaguete City Millennium Committee and the City Government of Dumaguete.

Defending champion club Team Velocity-Army faces tough competition from San Pedro Team (Laguna), Tri-Huevos (Cebu), Unified Triathlon Association (Cebu), Iron Piglets (Quezon City) and the Manila Triathlon Club. The right to represent the country in the Macau International Triathlon in September will be awarded to the champion club.

The event, sponsored by SPEEDO, Negros Navigation, Asia Pacific Insulation, VIVA Natural Spring Water, Philippine Sports Commission, and the POC Sports For All Commission, allows clubs to field in four triathletes each (with at least one female), all of which are automatically included in the individual competition. Gift items from SPEEDO and VIVA will be given to winners of the Male/Female Open, club competition and the age-groupers.

Entry fee for triathlon clubs is P1,600 (non-refundable).
