The twice-postponed sixth Philippine International Karting Prix (PIKP) Presidential Cup will definitely be held Dec. 28-29 at the Luneta.
This was announced by organizer Greg Gutierrez, who said President Joseph Estrada has been invited to award the Erap Cup trophies to the winners.
The PIKP Presidential Cup, the biggest karting event in the country, was first scheduled last August but it had to be postponed because of the peace and order problem in Mindanao.
It was reset to November but organizers of another karting event requested another date to give way to a similar event at the Subic kartway.
The PIKP series was held starting in 1973 in honor of President Marcos. The third was named the Cory Cup and the fourth the FVR Cup.
The sponsors are Caltex, PCSO, Pag-ibig, Land Bank, SSS, Pepsi Cola, Mark Jimenez, PKP, ADAP, Banco de Oro, Philippine Village Hotel, Grand Blvd., Metro Bank, DPWH, DOT, Equitable Bank, Viva Films, and Philippine Motoring Association.
