Calatagan continues surge in Fil-Am tiff

BAGUIO Talent-laden Calatagan continued its romp yesterday, carding 153 points for a two-round total of 291 as it widened its lead over defending champion CAP-Manila Southwoods by 23 points in the FIl Championship fight of the 51st Fil-Am golf tournament.
Tommy Manotoc highlighted Calatagans assault, scoring an eagle-aided 40 points at the newly renovated par-68 Camp John Hay layout.
Manotoc, who also fired four birdies, was supported by Boyet Zaragosa and Juvic Pagunsan who each submitted 39 points while Solomon Gines had 35.
CAP-Southwoods dislodged Wack-Wack at the second slot with second round 148 for 268 aggregate anchored on Jerome Deliartes sizzling eagles on hole 8th and 10th for 41 points. Wack Wack struggled with 122 for 252. Mizuno Masters Sports had 243.
At Baguio Country Club, Montito Garcia capped CAP-Southwoods performance by submitting 35 points. He was supported by ChuChu Martinez with 32, Juami Rocha 29 and Raymund Sangil 28.
Calatagan banked on ace Iggy Clavecilla with 32 points, Rolly-Viray 31, Jun Bernis 29 points and Dave Hernandez 25.Calatagan was one point down over Southwoods before yesterdays second round.
Still in third spot is Wack Wack with a two-day aggregate of 202 points while CAP-Camp John Hay is at the tail-end with 169.
