Dagelet fires ace, leads Fil-Am C flight

BAGUIO CITY – Ricky Dagelet of John Hay-Poro Point Dev. Corp.-Sinclaire yesterday scored a hole-in-one to pace C flight of the Am Division in the 51st Annual International Men’s Fil-Am Amateur Golf tournament with 83 points.

The hole-in-one by Dagelet on the first day of play was accomplished at the par 3, 168 yard 12th hole at the par 61 Baguio Country Club layout. The feat did not snare for him the top hole-in-one prize as it was not in the designated ace hole.

Alex Espiritu led JPDC-Sinclaire in the scoring binge with 24 points, with Dante Madriaga adding 23 points, Dagelet contributed his 20 and Robert Dee Jr., 16 points, in the five-to-play-four-to-count PAL-Stableford scoring system.

Home team Pine Tee-Allied was second with 80 points followed by Alviar’s Golf Team which had 77 points.

Other leading teams in this Millennium Challenge, jointly sponsored by BCC, CJH, Globe Telecommunications and Ram Construction, are Fil-Golfers of Hawaii which leads "D" Flight of the Am division with 80 points. Philippine Seniors Founders is in second spot with 70 points.

Manny Pucay made the best score of the day with 30 points to power JPDC’s third position in the "D" Flight.

At Camp John Hay, Bay Radio (Philip Morris) shot 92 points to lead Flight C of the Fil Division and lead Triple "V" Kamayan Saisaki by two shots. Philippine Navy Club is at third spot with 88 points.

The Baguio City Council though took the centerstage as Mayor Mauricio Domogan and lawyer Rudy Lockey scored 27 points each to lead the team to a 97 point production, the best score for the day.

Baguio Rep. Bernardo Vergara submitted 22 points, while lawyer Edilberto Tenefrancia had 21 to give the team a three-point lead over another local team, the Hard Rock Cafe.

Herr Bautista produced the best score in the Fil division so far with 29 points, contractor Mars Garcia had 24, Tony Verzosa submitted 22, while singer Bert Nievera and Jeff Razon scored an identical 19 points for Hard Rock Cafe which vouched to play better today.

Pine Tee, another local team, made 90 to place third at the start of the tournament.
