Jaworski hearing on PSC today

How Sen. Robert Jaworski will grill the countrys top sports officials will be known beginning at 8 a.m. today when the Senate Committee on Games, Amusement and Sports resumes its hearing on the affairs of the Philippine Sports Commission at the Recto Hall of the Senate Building in Pasay City.
A source in the PSC told the The STAR over the weekend that Tuason will submit pertinent documents and receipts of the sports agencys expenditures this year, including those used to finance the training and participation of tanker Jenny Rose Guerrero in Darwin, Australia where she qualified for the recent Sydney Olympic Games.
"Basically, the PSC will submit documents on how the PSC spent government money this year in compliance to Sen. Jaworskis request for such in the previous hearing in August," said the source.
But the lawmaker is expected to press the sports officials more on the debacle the Philippine Olympic team suffered last month. The medial shutout prompted Jaworski to call for their resignation.
But PSC chair Carlos Tuason has since justified the forgettable stint of the Filipino athletes and has urged leaders to concentrate on next years Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The PSC is said to have proposed a budget amounting to P315 million, the bulk of which will be used for the training and buildup of the national athletes for the SEA Games. Joey Villar
