Champion driver Richard Joson and newly-crowned Karter of the Year Philip Alvendia hope to make it big in the Formula One racing scene when they compete in the 11th and 12th rounds of the prestigious Formula Asia Series at the Zhuhai International Circuit in China on Oct. 8.
Carrying the countrys colors under Kart 1 Racing, Joson and Alvendia left Monday to test and familiarize themselves early with their respective Formula 2000 cars serviced by British Team Ghiasport.
They will be going up against 20-24 top international formula drivers from France, England, Switzerland, China, Malaysia, Hong Kong and New Zealand.
Joson, on loan from Japanese Team Corsa Morisawa, joined one of the legs last year and is confident of the RP teams chances.
"Im quite confident this time, having raced on this track before. With the edge on track knowledge, I can concentrate more on my car set-up and testing," quipped Joson.
Alvendia, a first timer in F1 racing, sees the event a good avenue for Filipino drivers to be known globally and achieve the dream of getting the Philippines into the international racing map.
