Bingo Pilipino came away with a big 82-75 win over defending champion Welcoat Paints yesterday for its first semifinal win in the PBL Chairman's Cup at the Makati Coliseum.
Jun Jabar led with 20 points and five rebounds as the Bingonaryos clicked offensively and defensively to improve their win-loss card to 7-5 and deal the Paint Masters their third loss in 11 games.
The long break must have taken its toll on Welcoat, which struggled in poor form majority of the way.
The Bingonaryos built leads of as many as 62-51 and allowed their rivals to get no closer than seven points, 58-65, in the last 3:54 of the contest with Jabar taking charge again in another 12-6 run to put the Bingonaryos beyond reach, 77-64.
Bingo Pilipino clipped a high 59 percent, 34-of-57, from the field aside from getting 16 points on fastbreaks and another 10 on second chance attempts.
