Petalino, pal show way in NBA 2ball

Ric John Petalino of Project 8 and Noel Cabel of Baesa, Quezon City scored 80 points, leading the finals qualifiers in the SM Fairview stop of the NBA 2ball presented by McDonald's last May 4-7.

not_entErick Tingson of Sikatuna Village and Jun Cabatu of C.B. Townhomes, Q.C., topped the Category 2 (16 and under) with 64 points while Raul and Paulo Villarba of Don Antonio Heights paced the Category 1 (parent and child) as the two pairs also earned slots in the grand finals of the fun event which stakes a free trip to the United States to the winners of each of the three categories.

Completing the list of teams from the SM Fairview eliminations advancing to the finals were George Conley and Peewee Torres of Laloma, Reginald Gracia and Edmel Donaire of Don Antonio Heights and Marvin and Kevin Allan Naval of Taytay, Rizal.

Conley and Torres placed second behind Petalino and Cabel in Category 3 (17 and above) with 77 points, Gracia and Donaire were runners-up in Category 2 with 60 points while the Navals were second behind the Villarbas in Category 1 with 39 points.

The NBA 2ball presented by McDonald's visits SM Southmall on May 11-14 before going to SM Bacoor May 18-21 and SM Megamall May 23-27.

The grand finals of the event sponsored by Spalding Balls, Upper Deck Trading Cards, Northwest Airlines, Dusit Hotel Nikko, SM Supermalls and ESPN Star Sports is set May 28 at SM Megamall.

The winners from each division will receive a grand prize of a trip to the US to see NBA games live in the 2000-2001 season. Each finalist will get a consolation prize of one NBA gift certificate and one Spalding ball.
