Top riders dispute titles in Petron jetski

SUBIC -- Top riders, led by defending champion Paul del Rosario, face the moment of truth as they dispute five titles in the final leg of the Millennium Petron Jet Ski Series April 29-30, at the Waterfront Beach here.

It will be a make or break for Del Rosario, who is bidding for a back-to-back Rider of the Year award, as he faces tough rivals John Dee, Carlo Baltao and Rene Pamaran in this event sponsored by Petron Corp., SBMA, Everest Purified Drinking Water, Subic Bay Aquasports Center, Tabata Sports Sandals, Boating-World Makati, Subic Yacht Club, Manila Cordage and Subic Homes.

Actually, the 18-year-old Del Rosario is just running third for the overall crown after accumulating 383 points in the premiere Expert Open Unlimited 1200 class.

Dee, the 1998 champion and semifinalist in the Skat Trak World Jet Ski finals, leads the race for Rider of the Year plum, toting 405 points in the Expert Runabout 785 class with Pamaran, a native of Pagadian City, second with 394 points.

Joey Millonado if fourth with 368 points in the Stock Runabout 787-1200 class and Carlo Baltao fifth with 364.

Points in this final leg will be doubled, giving a rider as many as 240 points for a perfect feat.
