Alpa Battery wins Bajoga opener
Defending Superveterans Division (45 above) champion Alpa Battery, Fedong Transport and MVJ Cargoes scored opening day victories at the Bajoga basketball tournament in Navotas. Maricel Terebrio, 18, of Alpa Battery was best muse.
The Alpa (Alice Pandanan) Battery Makers defeated Eddie and Tito's Lakers,
62-53 (24-16).
In Class "AA", MVJ Cargoes upset Designer's Den, 87-84 (34-32) as Benjie Gatchalian, Afie Salamat, Jun Bernardino, and Rolly Reyes scored in double figures. Former Adamson players Rency Cupcupin and Rommel Sta. Cruz combined for 60 points for the losers.
In another class "AA" match, Fedong Transport nipped Norman's NDC, 79-78 (30-32). Jojo Cruz, Alfon Dela Cruz and Fedy Pascual played well but it was Jake Tongko's two free throws in the final seconds of the game that sealed the win.
