Humbling experience

- Joey Villar -

Tanduay did what no other team has done to Alaska, humbling the Milkmen with a kind of offensive game that further underscored the Rhum Masters' growing invincibility in the Alaxan-PBA All-Filipino Cup.

Unloading a sustained firepower, the Rhum Masters took charge early, sat on a 48-21 cushion at the turn and never gave the Milkmen any room for a comeback to score a one-sided 82-65 victory at the Araneta Coliseum.

It was Tanduay's fourth straight win, and yesterday's 17-point romp over the league's best defensive squad all the more installed the Rhum Masters as the team to beat not only in this conference but perhaps for the rest of the season.

Twice did Alaska absorb a 61-83 beating from Purefoods and a 73-97 rout by Ginebra last year but in both games, the Milkmen put up some semblance of resistance only to give up in the last two quarters.

Yesterday, there was nothing Alaska could do to put up a decent stand as Tanduay took the game away right in the first period.

In the nightcap, Sta. Lucia turned back Shell, 80-75, to notch its second win in three starts. The Zoom Masters, who led majority of the way, took their third straight setback.
