Rosales misses cut

-

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii -- Jennifer Rosales failed to endure the pressure and missed the cut for the second time in four tries in the US LPGA Tour as she fumbled with a 77 in the second round of the $800,000 Takefuji Classic Friday.

Starting the round in joint 56th, Rosales lost control of her game in her attempt to crash into the top 69 (plus ties) as she struggled all day at the Kona Country Club course and finished two strokes off the cutoff score of 149.

That woeful five-over card put to naught her 74 in the first round as Rosales bowed out with a seven-over 151 aggregate.

Dorothy Delasin, who virtually blew her bid with a fat 82 Thursday, likewise failed to advance for the second straight tournament as she wound up with a 156 despite a 74.

But the fight for the top honors in this event serving as the fifth leg of the LPGA Tour remains tight as ever with Annika Sorenstam seizing a one-stroke lead with a 136 after a second straight 68. She leads first round leader Janice Moodie (70), Marisa Baena (68) and Karrie Webb (70) by one stroke going in the final 18 holes.

In Miami, Florida, Franklin Langham opened a three-stroke lead at the Doral-Ryder Open with a fiery 63-129 after 36 holes. Among the group on 12-under 132 was Stephen Ames, of Trinidad and Tobago, who had the best round of the day - a career-best and course-record 11-under 61.
