Radis shows way in Funboard Cup

-

Australian national champion Robbie Radis showed the way for Korean 1997 Boracay overall champion Suh Yong Keun and Italian Neilpryde sailor Roberto Hoffman after three rounds of the 12th Cutty Sark Boracay Int'l. Funboard Cup at the Bulabog Beach in Boracay.

But at presstime, it remains uncertain whether the winds will allow the more than 65 sailors from 15 nations to run a crucial and fifth round of the event sponsored by Cutty Sark.

Manny Cabili of the Caliraya Windsurfing Fleet was running fourth but misfortunes in the third round relegated him to 20th place. Hoffman also took an unexpected spill in the third round and finished in 15th place finish, enabling Radis to seize the lead.

Suh, on the other hand, played safe and steady and came up with consecutive top five finishes during the first three rounds.

The fourth round is crucial because it will allow the sailors to scratch off their worst score. But if the fourth round is called off, the final standings will be based only on the scores accumulated in the first three rounds.

Moving into the fourth and fifth rounds would boost Cabili and Hoffman's chances.

Another Filipino sailor who stands to benefit from being able to drop his lowest score is German Paz, who also had a horrendous third round finish because he tripped on the beach while carrying his sail and bruised his shoulder against a bamboo pole.
