GMA pursues case versus Vintage, PBA

-

GMA Marketing EVP Roberto Barreiro challenged Vintage official Bobong Velez to answer questions they have raised, particularly the authenticity and validity of the "paper resolution" the Argosy-Vintage consortium presented to the PBA Board.

Barreiro said GMA is only after what is just and fair. "We play by the Marquis of Queensberry rules," Barreiro said, adding that they sought clarification of the awards process after noting what he called as several questionable actuations by the PBA board of governors.

The GMA Marketing executive noted that they submitted all the requirements, including the airtime commit-ment for the games last Dec. 27, the final presentation day.

The Argosy consortium, however, presented an airtime commitment signed by IBC president Boots Anson-Roa on Dec. 29, two days later. The authenticity of that document was later questioned by the PBA board. Subsequently, the Argosy-Vintage consortium presented on Jan. 7, what GMA calls an "IBC paper board resolution."

As this developed, it was reported that legal sanctions against the IBC Board are also being studied. Legal circles note that charges of falsification of documents against the IBC directors who signed the disputed Director's Certificate dated Jan. 6, 2000.
