Man nabbed with P50T shabu
AMLAN, NEGROS ORIENTAL, Philippines — Policemen in Amlan town arrested on Monday evening a 42-year-old man from Dumaguete City for possession of sachets of shabu, weighing about five grams with an estimated value of P50,000.
Senior Inspector Michael Rubia, chief of the Amlan Police Station, identified the suspect as Arturo Povadora, a resident of Barangay Looc in Dumaguete City.
The police stated that at about 8:15 p.m., a resident of Barangay Tandayag in Amlan informed them about a "suspicious person" in the village.
Responding policemen found the person, later known as Povadora–wearing a hat and a sweatshirt with hood, and carrying a sling bag. When the police approached him and asked for his identification, he became edgy and uneasy while pacing around, and even tried to run away.
Rubia said this prompted the police to apprehend Povadora initially for unjust vexation, and then informed him in the dialect of his constitutional rights and the cause of his arrest.
During the body search, the police found Povadora allegedly in possession of a big sachet of shabu weighting five grams, a small sachet of the drug weighing four grams, and P4,500 cash.
Povadora, now detained at the Amlan Police cell while charges were filed against him, told the police he was in Tandayag to look for his family but he forgot the exact place in the barangay where they have been living.
Rubia thanked the cooperation of the resident of Tandayag for the immediate action on suspected person, resulting in the latter's arrest. (FREEMAN)
