Man, after bragging his amulet, beheaded
CALBAYOG CITY, SAMAR, Philippines — Bragging about possessing a powerful “anting-anting” (amulet) to his drinking buddies and then challenging everyone in the village to a fight, may have caused the comeuppance of a drunken man: He got beheaded later while asleep.
Calbayog City Police investigators, identified the victim as Rolando Sabayon, a resident of Barangay Peòa, this city, whose decapitated body was found in a waiting shed at Barangay Pilar, also in this city, and his head about 10 meters away from the scene.
Based on police report obtained by The Freeman, Sabayon together with a certain Boy Dorolor went to Pilar on Saturday afternoon and had a drinking session with friends Roger Dorolor and Garray Baragenio, residents of that village.
But in the course of their drinking, Sabayon reportedly got drunk and started to be cocky by bragging about his “anting-anting” (amulet} and potent herb he called “haring bakal.”
After the drinking session, Sabayon became rowdy and went on challenging everyone in the village to a fight. No one acknowledged Sabayon and his drinking buddies even left him. Eventually, he settled down and slept in a waiting shed nearby.
The police report stipulated that while Sabayon was asleep, a unidentified person armed with a bladed weapon went to the waiting shed and hacked the sleeping victim on his neck, decapitating him as a result.
Investigators are still looking for the identity of the perpetrator. (FREEMAN)
