P36.5M bridge reconstruction project now underway
TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — The reconstruction for the typhoon-damaged bridge along the Tacloban-Ormoc route is expected to be completed by May next year.
Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla told The Freeman the completion of the bridge, costing about P36.5 million, would ease the burden of traffic for the motorists, plying the Tacloban-Ormoc and Tacloban-Biliran routes, and increase economic activity in the northeastern side of the province.
Petilla said the Hiagsam Bridge in Jaro town, damaged by typhoon Seniang in December last year, is 50.8 meters long and 19.3 meters wide. Its reconstruction also involved widening from its original size, he added. (FREEMAN)
