Dumaguete receives 100 PCs from Yeongdun-gun, South Korea

Judy Flores Partlow - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria formally received 100 computer sets, which were donated to the Dumaguete City government from its sister city, Yeongdun-gun in South Korea.

Sagarbarria said he was happy of the donation, adding that this was one of the benefits Dumaguete has gained from entering into a sister-cityhood with the Korean metropolis.

The recipients of the computer sets, meanwhile, will be determined later by the city government, he said, and these may likely be the city government offices, barangays, schools and even the city police.

City officials, along with Sagarbarria, were at the City Hall grounds to receive the computers, as these were unloaded from a container van, which actually arrived three months earlier in Cebu.

The Bureau of Customs however charged the shipment with P525,000 in taxes and fees, but Yeongdun-gun government shouldered P235,000 of it, with the remaining amount paid for by Dumaguete. (FREEMAN)
