Juancho R. Gallarde - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines –  The Negros Oriental’s Buglasan Festival 2015 had officially started yesterday with an opening parade of participants to the booth contest and culminated at the Aquino Freedom Park with a short program.

Tight security was in effect under the Joint Task Force Leon Kilat with contingents from the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Army.

Negros Oriental Police provincial head, Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos, said Governor Roel Degamo had already assigned sub-task groups on radio communications, tourism, maritime patrol, investigation, and intelligence, among others. Carlos was himself the commander of the sub task group on anti-criminality.

Two platoons of soldiers from the 79th Infantry Bbattalion, headed by Lieutenant Colonel Harold Anthony Pascua, the K-9 unit and the Explosive and Ordnance team from the 302nd Infantry Brigade, under Col. Alan Martin, and two teams from the Regional Public Safety Batallion have been deployed to Dumaguete City for the duration of the Buglasan festivities.

A total of 140 police and army personnel including four each from the police stations, formed part of the augmentation forces to keep the peace and security in Dumaguete and in all of the staging areas and activities of the Buglasan, Carlos added.  (FREEMAN)
