Angeline Valencia - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – An Austrian tourist in Panglao was found dead Saturday afternoon with a gunshot wound on his head and his personal belongings missing.

Police Officer 2 Jose Sering, of the Panglao Police Station, identified the victim as Martin Schloglhofer, a 48-year-old Austrian man, who had stayed at Acasia Sunset Resort at sitio Daorong of Barangay Danao, Panglao.

The police received a report about a foreigner found dead along the road of Barangay Bolod in Panglao at 2:23 pm on August 8.

Upon arrival at the scene by Sering’s team, personnel of the Bohol Tourist Police Unit, led by Ronelon Reveche were already there and the victim was already brought via an ambulance to the Ramiro Community Hospital in Tagbilaran City. The attending physician declared the Austrian dead on arrival.

Initial investigation showed Schloglhofer left Acasia at around 1:45 pm that day on his motorcycle going to the site of an on-going project he has taken part of at Sunshine Village in Barangay Libaong, also in Panglao.

The Austrian’s belt bag — containing BPI ATM cards, mobile phone, passport, P20,000 cash and other documents — was no longer with him.

Authorities advised the victim’s Filipino live-in partner, Josephine Libres, to have the body of the Austrian subjected to an autopsy.
