The Freeman

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines – At least 100 families, who survived super typhoon Yolanda, will benefit on the permanent housing project, soon to be built by the Operation Blessing Foundation Inc. at the 6.4-hectare land in Barangay Palanog, this city.

Operation Blessing, together with HILTI Foundation and the city government, said the project will provide permanent houses for those still living in evacuation sites and transition shelters. Each house, at 25-square meter area, will be made with the new resilient bamboo cement technology to withstand an 8-magnitude earthquake and a typhoon of 250-kph wind speed.

The project site will also halve a health center, a day care center, a market, a transport terminal and a multi-purpose hall.

CBN Asia and Operation Blessing president and chief executive officer Peter Kairuz told the crowd, during the groundbreaking ceremony for the project, said “the Lord is the builder of all; justly we bring glory to his name.”

City Mayor Alfred Romualdez thanked the sponsors for the housing project the foundation has made for Barangay Palanog. “Your help means a lot to us (Taclobanons). As leaders, When we help our fellowmen, we are at the same time serving God's people.” — Contributed by Gay B. Gaspay-TISAT
