PRO-8 announces traffic rerouting
PALO, LEYTE, Philippines – There will be rerouting of traffic a day before the arrival of Pope Francis to Leyte on January 17, according to the Police Regional Office-8.
Chief Superintendent Asher Dolina, PRO-8 regional director, said the rerouting in Tacloban City and Palo town will be done in the afternoon the last flight at the airport on January 16.
Dolina said that, during the rerouting, no vehicle will be allowed to travel along the Papal motorcade route, from the airport to Barangay Marasbaras in Tacloban and from Barangay Pawing to Poblacion of Palo town and to the Archbishop's Residence in Barangay Arado, also of this town.
The common parking area for vehicles will be the Government Center in Palo, more or less 4 kilometers from the City Airport where the open air Papal Mass will be celebrated, he said, adding that the Tanauan-Palo-Sta. Fe road will be closed to traffic.
Dolina further announced that northbound motorists from the south (from Mindanao-Southern Leyte areas going to Tacloban and Samar-Luzon areas) will pass through the route along the Dagami-Sta. Fe towns then to the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Nula-Tula in Tacloban.
For southward bound (from the Samar-Luzon areas going to Tacloban or Ormoc or the Southern Leyte-Mindanao areas) will take the Maharlika Highway in Nula-Tula of Tacloban to the Sta. Fe-Dagami route, he added.
