Fire guts 5 comm'l units, leaves P5M in damages

Marchel P. Espina - The Freeman

BACOLOD CITY , Philippines – Five units of commercial establishment were razed by a fire and left an estimated damage of P5 million at Barangay Bacuyangan in Hinobaan town, Negros Occidental, Sunday morning.

Fire Officer 3 Prinie Melgar of the Bureau of Fire Protection said no casualties or injuries were reported.

Melgar said the fire broke out at 11:45 a.m., but the firefighters had a hard time putting it off because the commercial units, owned by Danny Aico, Fe Garboza, Mayet Celerio, Florentino Celiz and Ray De la Cruz, contained light materials.

A fire out was declared at 6:30 p.m., or about seven hours after, Melgar said, adding that the BFP was still probing the incident to determine the cause.
