Mayoralty hopeful says his party can put complete slate
CEBU, Philippines - Last-term Councilor Antonio Remollo, a presumptive mayoralty bet of the Liberal Party in Dumaguete City, vehemently denied insinuations he will not be able to form a complete slate in the 2016 elections, insisting that many have been approaching him to be included in his roster.
Remollo, however, could not yet divulge the name of his vice mayoralty tandem, but mentioned his five bets for councilor, namely, re-electionist Councilor Manny Arbon, former councilor and vice mayor Alan Gel Cordova, former city councilor Joe Kenneth Arbas, lawyer Michael Bandal who placed 11th in the 2013 polls, and Cherrie Mae “Chicklet” Belen, a nurse at the City Health Office.
As a senior member, holding the highest position, of the LP in Dumaguete, Remollo said he could organize a powerhouse slate, and he was just waiting for the opportune time to announce the four others who have signified their intention to run for councilor.
The party’s 10th slot for councilor is reserved for the one chosen from four other applicants, Remollo added. —Juancho R. Gallarde (FREEMAN)
