Infant dies in Iloilo evacuation center

CEBU, Philippines – At the initial onslaught of typhoon Ruby, a child died in an evacuation center in Iloilo province.

Mayor Filomeno Ganzon of Balasan town said Althea Angelique Rojo, aged one year and four months, died of convulsion due to pneumonia.

It was eary morning of Sunday when she was rushed to Jesus Colmenares District Hospital due to fever.

But the baby did not pull through. Her family has been pre-emptively evacuated at the Balantian Elementary School in Balasan.

Balasan has 49 evacuation centers housing 863 families composed of 3,576 persons.
