2 dead bodies missing in Jagna sea recovered

JAGNA, Bohol, Philippines – The lifeless body which is already in a state of decomposition found floating nearby coastal Barangay Bunga Mar of this town yesterday noon was recovered, residents here said when The Freeman made a visit here.

Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Engr. Gerry Araneta of this town confirmed in an exclusive interview that the said dead body belonged to Robinson Ceballos, who was one of the four missing persons a day after tropical storm “Queenie” made a landfall here.

The other body was that of one Roque Sandoval, 62, also one of the missing persons, found near the cockpit by the sea of Barangay Can-opao, Araneta said.

The other person missing, identified as one Adrian Sagrado, is reportedly alive.  Araneta said that his office is trying to verify the veracity of the report in Ubay, where Sagrado resides. But the fourth one Oscar Biasa, who is considered missing, is still nowhere to be found, he said.

Meanwhile, update of the post-Queenie assessment and rescue showed that there were 42 houses severely destroyed and some 377 houses partially damaged, Araneta said. This translates to an initial 419 families affected.

A total of 137 fishing boats were totally dismantled while 46 partially damaged, he said. All 10 coastal barangays from Can-uba to Alejawan were severely hit by the storm, he said.

His office still waiting for other damage report from hinterland barangays.

Araneta said that food assistance is already done with locally procured 495 food packs and DSWD-sponsored 750 food packs distributed to the victims. – JMD
