Fire hits 3-storey bldg.
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – A three-storey building at the downtown area in this city yesterday morning was razed by a three-hour fire and left an estimated damage worth P20 million. There were no reported injuries or casualties.
The city’s Bureau of Fire Protection had a hard time putting off the fire, which broke out at around 1:50 a.m., since the building, owned by Dennis Ong, contained highly inflammable materials such as RTWs, clothes and textiles.
Chief Inspector Bartolome Beliran, BFP marshall, said that four tenants of the SK Plaza building at the Divisoria, along Luzuriaga Street in Barangay 37, this city, were affected and are still conducting an inventory of the damage.
Based on the initial investigation, however, the BFP pegged the damage of the fire at about P20 million, Beliran said, adding that probers were still determining the cause of the incident, which may be electrical in nature.
