DOLE releases P79, 050 for TUPAD beneficiaries
DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — Seventeen beneficiaries of the Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Ating Disadvantaged or Displaced Workers in this city have received their 15-day wage of P4,650 each or a total of P79,050.
The wages were handed over to the TUPAD beneficiaries in a ceremony Wednesday at the office of Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria who distributed the money to them in the presence of Regional Director Exequiel Sarcauga of the Department of Labor and Employment-7, Ma. Teresa Tanquiamco, DOLE provincial head, and City Administrator William Ablong.
The beneficiaries were among the identified displaced workers from the 30 barangays of the city. They were also the first batch to receive the wage through the TUPAD work program, from August 18 to September 5, this year. The second batch from other barangays are still currently working.
The TUPAD temporary work program was implemented by the DOLE in partnership with the city government, through its Public Employment Service Office, with the support of Representative George Arnaiz of the 2nd district of Negros Oriental.
Their job is to clean the streets, pavements and sidewalks and de-clog the canals within the city and the major roads and streets. —Judy Flores Partlow (FREEMAN)
