Fire hits car showroom

Juancho R. Gallarde - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – A fire of still undetermined origin hit the Mitsubishi showroom along the national highway in Barangay Maslog of Sibulan town at about noontime yesterday.

Arson investigator Fire Officer 3 Lorvirgilio Faustorilla was still conducting an investigation on the cause of the fire with an estimated damage of P2 million, including the structures.

Three vehicles were partially damaged as a result of the fire, which if not of the timely arrival of firetrucks from the Dumaguete City Bureau of Fire Protection, would have escalated into a full-blown conflagration.

The damaged luxury vehicles were hit by fallen debris, resulting in damaged windshields, fenders, front and rear lights, side mirrors and paints. Another brand new L-300 van parked outside the showroom ready for delivery to a buyer was also damaged after its front part was burnt.

Witnesses account showed the fire started at the back portion of the showroom's signage.
