Ormoc PNP nabs 3, seizes shabu

Lalaine Jimenea - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines- Sixteen sachets of shabu were confiscated from three men, all residents of Caibiran in Biliran province, at a police checkpoint in Barangay Concepcion in Ormoc city, at around 1 a.m. yesterday.

The suspects were identified as Jubert Almen, Bernie Almen and Pablo Oledan, who were on their way out of the city when apprehended. The shabu sachets were confiscated from Jubert, said the police.

Inspector Berniede Magamay, Police Station 2 chief, told The Freeman by phone interview that the arrested suspects were brought to a drug test and the seized items to a crime laboratory in Maasin City.

The police surmised the three had bought the shabu from the city and were about to bring the illegal items out for possible distribution in Biliran.

The three were riding on a brand new XRM Honda motorcycle which has no plate number, said Magamay, adding that he could not give yet an estimate on the street value of the drugs.

He could only surmise that it was "high grade" because of its color. "Only the crime lab can give the estimate and grade the drugs."
