Iloilo City police chief's brod stabbed dead by teen burglar
CEBU, Philippines - The younger brother of Iloilo City Police Office director Senior Superintendent Ruperto Floro was stabbed dead Saturday morning by a teenage boy who tried to burglarize the victim's mini-grocery store at New Washington town in Aklan.
Reynaldo Floro, 47, a native of Cuartero, Capiz, succumbed to a lone stab injury on his chest that pierced through his heart. He was still rushed to a hospital but did not pull through.
The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Adrian John Torcuator, alias Garci, of Barangay Mabilo in New Washington, was arrested hours after committing the crime.
Members of New Washington and Batan Police Stations and the Aklan Provincial Public Safety Company collared Torcuator at a fishpond in Camaligan village of Batan town in Aklan.
Reports have it that the suspect engaged the arresting policemen to a chase before he was finally arrested. It was assumed that the area where he was arrested was where his older brother, 23-year-old Alvin, worked. Alvin was also arrested for obstruction of justice and prosecution of criminal offender.
According to police reports, it was early morning of Saturday when the suspect broke into the store, but Reynaldo Floro caught him in the act. While the victim phoned for police assistance, he allowed Torcuator to be seated.
But the suspect conspicuously took his concealed knife and immediately plunged it on the victim. The victim's 18-year old store helper who also witnessed the incident immediately called for police help. (FREEMAN)
