BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — The police had uprooted at least 50 fully grown marijuana plants at purok Abaca, sitio Pataan in Barangay Mailum of Bago City, Negros Occidental on Saturday.

This was confirmed by Supt. Arnel Arpon, Bago City Police chief, as he revealed that the illegal plants have grown to six feet in height.

Arpon revealed that the police had also found 20 harvested marijuana plants, 40 seedlings, 70 pieces of cups with seedlings and more than a kilo of dried marijuana leaves.

He said the police have yet to establish the market value of the illegal plantation found in a secluded area of the city by military personnel who were conducting routine patrol in the area.

The army troopers informed the police about the discovery and, upon checking the area, they confirmed that it was a marijuana plantation.

Arpon said the uprooted plants were forwarded to the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO)- Crime Laboratory for examination.

The police will continue their investigation of the area and Arpon admitted that they are having a hard time identifying the owner of the land or who has been cultivating it. (FREEMAN)
