Prov'l advisory body formed to aid Bohol PNP

PANGLAO, BOHOL, Philippines — Private citizens have bonded together and organized the Provincial Advisory Council  to help the police of Bohol in the maintenance of peace and order.

Leading the elected officers of the PAC was its chairman, Mike Ortega Ligalig, a correspondent of The Freeman and an editor of the Bohol Sunday Post. The other officers were lawyer Bernie Calibo, as vice-chairman, and Anne Mariquit Oppus as secretary.

The PAC officers were sworn in by Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II in ceremonies held at the posh Amorita Beach Resort at the coastal barangay of Tawala in this town. The mayor said he was committing his support for the body's advocacy.

Members  of the PAC were lawyers Antonio Amora, Victor dela Serna, Veronico Petalcorin and Mans Tumanda, who was president of the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry,engineers Arnold Labunog and Petronilo Sarigumba, Pastor Rufino Fudalan, retired police Insp. Alberto Pilayre, Ardy Ines Batoy and Donald Sevilla.

Mayor Nila Montero of this premier town and Bohol Provincial Police director, Sr. Supt. Dennis Agustin attended the PAC event.

Montero, in her brief speech, said, "Peace and order is everybody's business," adding that the participation of private citizens, under the PAC, in helping the police is "very essential in attaining peace and order of the province." (FREEMAN)
