Van-PUJ collision: 1 dead, 15 hurt
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines - — A 27-year-old man died while 15 others were injured following a collision of a van and a public utility jeepney at a road intersection in Barangay Efigenio Lizares of Talisay City in Negros Occidental, yesterday morning.
Police identified the fatality as Junie Tornillo, of Barangay Dos Hermanas in Talisay City, who sustained a wound on the head due to the strong impact of the collision.
Initial police investigation showed that, while the red traffic light was on at an intersection, the van did not stop causing it to crash into the PUJ, driven by Sonny Cornelio, which had nine passengers.
The van, driven by Cebrilito Fernandez of Bacolod City, was headed to the Bacolod-Silay Airpot and was in a hurry, as it was supposed to drop off its 10 passengers.
All of the injured passengers were brought to the Silay City Provincial Hospital, while the police have yet to determine who was responsible of the incident. (FREEMAN)
