Marañon: No displacement in reorganization of Capitol

Marchel P. Espina - The Freeman

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. has yet to issue an executive order on the implementation of the reorganization of the Capitol employees but, at this time, he assured the public sector workers that no one will be displaced in the process.

While the reorganization will abolish 106 positions, the governor said "these dissolved positions are not that critical." He said that employees whose positions were abolished will be transferred to new positions if qualified, and that some offices will be merged.

A committee, headed by the provincial administrator, with a representative each from the Provincial Board, the Civil Service Commission, the department heads and employees' unions, will be created to oversee the implementation of the reorganization.

The reorganization, once implemented, will create 372 positions in the Capitol, which will need P127,495,605.72, as against the abolished positions that cost P35,114,217.66.  (FREEMAN)
