Baby dies of dehydration

Marlon Necito A. Taño - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Solayao couple (above photo) and their son, among the Yolanda survivors, mourn inside their temporary shelter (tent) at Brgy. 88 in San Jose District of Tacloban City where the remains of their 8-month-old baby girl was laid in a pauper’s casket.

Hospital records show the baby died last Sunday of cardiac arrest due to severe dehydration, fever and diarrhea. Three other children from the same evacuation center were rushed to the hospital due to similar symptoms.

At least 30 families or Yolanda survivors are still living in tents in this part of Tacloban, suffering from lack of toilets, poor health facilities and absence of potable water supply. (FREEMAN)
