CEBU, Philippines - Villar Group Chairman Manny Villar personally supervised the distribution and installation of roofing materials, which he donated to typhoon Yolanda-devastated communities in Iloilo, Capiz and Aklan during his recent visit to these provinces.

Villar, a former senator, went from town to town to distribute the roof sheets for the rebuilding and repair of schools and houses affected by Yolanda.

Thousands of families in Passi City and the towns of Ajuy, Lemery, Sara, Balasan, Estancia, Carles and Concepcion, all in Iloilo, have benefited from Villar's roofing project.

The towns of Altavas, Batan, Ibahay and Balete in Aklan province, and the towns of Pontevedra, Sigma, Dumarao and Tapaz in Capiz also received roofing materials from Villar.

"In our own capacity, we are continuously helping the survivors. They need our help. Little by little, we are doing what we can to address the needs of the survivors and help them rise from this devastation brought by the typhoon. We hope we can encourage more people and companies to continue helping because the survivors really need our help," said Villar.

Earlier, Villar was also in Yolanda-hit Leyte and Samar provinces where he launched his "Bangon Leyte Roofing Project," an initiative to rebuild the affected schools and houses by providing roofing materials.

Villar also visited the Philippine Science High School-Eastern Visayas Campus in Palo, Leyte where he checked on the damage and pledged to shoulder the roofing materials for the rebuilding of the school. (FREEMAN)
