Ma, daughter killed; 7 hurt in road collision
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A mother and daughter were killed while seven others were hurt after a tricycle they were riding collided with a sedan along the highway at Barangay Manuling in Cauayan town, at about 12 p.m. Sunday.
Senior Insp. Lowell Garinganao, chief of Cauayan Police Station, identified the fatalities as Salvacion Tajonera, 51 and her 12-year-old daughter, Kian Grace, both from Binalbagan town.
Garinganao said the Toyota Innova car, driven by Monina Gudaca of Sipalay City, lost its brakes and collided with the tricycle, which was boarded by the Tajonera family.
The strong impact detached the sidecar from the motorcycle, while the car also hit an incoming Isuzu truck resulting in serious injuries of four in the tricycle and three inside the Innova, including Gudaca.
Gudaca may face possible charges of two counts of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple serious physical injuries and damage to property if the victim's family will pursue the case. (FREEMAN)
