CEBU, Philippines - The Filipino Association of the Bahamas (FAB) donated P1 million check and books to Leyte Normal University (LNU) in Tacloban City, during the turnover ceremony last February 6 at the school’s conference hall.

LNU president Dr. Jude Duarte received the donation from the FAB—headed by Dr. Ricky Gaspar with members Lerry Ramirez, Manny Gaspar and Rose Gaspar—that raised the money in Bahamas to help the typhoon-damaged school.

The FAB donated the amount for the repair of the university dormitory and the Integrated Laboratory School (ILS), which were damaged by typhoon Yolanda last year.

The group also presented the books, which were donated by the staff of the Princess Margaret Hospital and the UNP-BSN (University of the Northern Philippines-Bachelor of Science in Nursing) World Class Group in Vigan, for the ILS Library.

“We would like to express our gratitude for the warm reception and the very positive response. LNU is indeed an institution of excellence,” said Lerry Ramirez in an interview with LNU-An Lantawan.

The FAB is an organization that raises and donates funds for educational purposes. It was Dr. Bernardo Ramirez who recommended to the association the LNU as the beneficiary of the donation. —(FREEMAN)
