Ormoc has new police director

CEBU, Philippines - Police Regional Office-Region 8 acting director, Chief Supt. Henry Losañes officially installed Sr. Supt. Jose Macanas as the Ormoc City Police director, replacing Sr. Supt. Elizar Egloso who had served the post for about two years hence.

Losañes, in his message during the installation ceremony held on Jan. 17 at Camp Downes in Ormoc, challenged Macanas to focus on the persistent illegal drugs problem, which continue to haunt the city.

The PRO-8 top official also called for the need to intensify information gathering in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines for the security of the city and neighboring towns. 

"Let the (police) stations work" and continue your predecessor's work in line with Pres. Aquino's matuwid na daan approach, Losañes told Macanas.

Macanas, for his part, told The Freeman of his plans to reinvigorate the police's community-based support group to achieve the objectives laid down by Losañes. "Partnership with these groups who know their respective areas is always essential," he said.  (FREEMAN)
