DOH finances rehab project of Loon, Bohol health facilities

Jessa Agua - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Health (DOH) will finance the P100 million rehabilitation works of health facilities in earthquake-torn Loon town in Bohol.

Mayor Lloyd Peter Lopez, also a licensed doctor, visited DOH-Central Visayas to inquire about the status of the financial assistance that the agency will extend to the LGU. “I learned from the assistant regional director, Lakshmi Legaspi, that the funding has been approved and the release is already processed,” he said.

Damaged Loon health facilities are the emergency hospital and two health centers. The DOH has allotted about P80 million for the emergency hospital rehabilitation while another P10 million for every health center.

The Red Cross and the DOH temporarily set up a tent hospital to provide health care services to the residents of Loon and neighboring areas. “For serious cases, we refer these to Tagbilaran City for proper treatment,” Lopez said. (FREEMAN)
