Negros Oriental coop wins Nat'l Gawad Parangal Award

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines - The Negros Oriental Union of Cooperatives (NEORUNCO) recently bagged the National Cooperative Development Authority's Gawad Parangal Award, under the cooperative union category.

NEORUNCO chairperson, Dr. Profetiza Lim, received the award Wednesday in Manila, said Maricar Aranas Vensuelo of the Perpetual Help Community Cooperative, Inc. (PHCCI), a member of the NEORUNCO.

NEORUNCO bested other contestants at the regional level to represent Region 7 to the national Gawad Parangal, said Vensuelo.

Besides NEORUNCO, the Dumaguete Cathedral Multipurpose Cooperative (DCCCO), through Dr. Sylvia Flores, also earned the national award under the individual category.

Lim was thankful that NEORUNCO got the national award because it was the first time that the Cooperative Development Authority gave an award for the union category.
