Archbishop leads Black Friday Vigil vs PDAF
ILOILO CITY , Philippines — Fearing on the railroading of a "new mechanism" to deceive the people that pork barrel is finally abolished, Jaro Archbishop Angel Lagdameo will lead the 'Black Friday Vigil against the Priority Development Assistance Fund" at the Iloilo Capitol grounds today.
Hope Hervilla, of Bayan Panay, said the vigil rally against PDAF will be held today when Congress is scheduled to approve the national budget. "This day is crucial amid the raging anomaly surrounding the pork barrel system," she said.
Hervilla said the revelations of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, accused of plunder along with Janet Lim Napoles and 36 others, in a privilege speech in the Senate recently bolstered the argument that government funds have been abused also by the present administration.
The danger is real that the administration of President Benigno Aquino III will use its power and influence over the majority of legislators to railroad a "new mechanism" in the distribution of government funds, she said.
Hervilla also thanked Lagdameo for leading the campaign against PDAF, being one of the convenors of the Abolish Pork Barrel, Now Na! alliance. (FREEMAN)
