Dengue cases reach 516, but decline seen
DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines - The total number of dengue cases recorded in this city, as of latest count, has reached 516 with one death, according to City Health officer Ma. Sarah Talla on Tuesday.
The total covered the period from January 1 to September 13 this year, she said, although this number is slightly lower than the 519 with five deaths over the same period last year.
The drop in dengue cases this year started sometime in April, but Talla cautioned the public to be on guard still against the dreaded mosquito-borne virus
Records at the City Health Office showed the top five barangays with the highest number of dengue cases for the period are Bajumpandan with 51 cases, Piapi (43), Daro (42), Batinguel (40) and Bagacay (35).
Except for Bajumpandan, the rest of the areas have shown a decline in dengue cases already, Talla added. (FREEMAN)
