Statement from Mayor Carmen Cari

CEBU, Philippines - “Preparations for my inauguration rites on Monday (July 1) to start my second term as mayor of Baybay City are now in place. My assumption into office was based on the people’s will, as shown in the May 13 elections results and confirmed by the Comelec itself.

“I got reports of a threat from Malot Galenzoga to take over the mayoralty post because she won in the elections, but then again the only proofs that she has for this are fake documents.”

On the barricade at the City Hall: “For as long as Galenzoga is there, the barricade will continue. She has been inciting the people to protest, but the Baybayons no longer believed her that’s why she hauled residents from nearby towns of Inopacan and Hilongos to stage a rally at the City Hall. She is disturbing the peace in the city, leading her supporters to a clash with the people who voted for my victory in the last elections.” (FREEMAN)
