PCL-Bohol funds yet unaccounted

Ric V. Obedencio - The Freeman

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines  â€” Members of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL)-Bohol chapter have called for transparency and accountability as the organization's financial status, under its former president, Provincial Board Member Brigido Imboy, has remained unaccounted for.

City Councilor Leonides Borja, a member of the PCL-Bohol Board, said the league had already approved a resolution requesting Imboy to account for the finances, the involved amount of which he could not recall at the time of the interview with The Freeman.

Borja said he already submitted a recommendation of the special committee, which he headed, created for the purpose of getting a financial report from Imboy.

In an interview last Friday, Imboy, who was re-elected PB member for the 3rd district in the recent May 13 election, 2013, hinted he has to do his homework and wait for the special committee's recommendation, but he signified his willingness to account for the funds during his term as president of the league.

Borja said he was also waiting for the action of incumbent PCL-Bohol president, Councilor Ramonito Torrefranca of Carmen town, on the resolution and the committee recommendation.

One of the findings of the special committee was the "irregularity in withdrawal of funds" that allegedly had no signature of former PCL-Bohol treasurer, Councilor Ariel Lungay of Catigbian town, as required.

Asked if legal action would be the last option of PCL-Bohol to compel Imboy to submit financial report and accounting of the funds, Borja said, "maybe."  (FREEMAN)
