Last of 13 escapees yields
BACOLOD CITY , Philippines — All 13 inmates who bolted the Sagay City District Jail last week have been recaptured, with the surrender of the last two escapees Thursday, police said.
Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, acting Negros Occidental Police provincial director, said Eric Cordero, who is facing frustrated murder charges, surrendered to the Sagay Police at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, quoting a report of Chief Insp. Edel Jose Manzano, acting Sagay City Police chief.
Earlier in the morning that day, Marlon Bandaja surrendered to the Sagay City Police, accompanied by Barangay Captain Merle Demavibas, said de la Paz.
Last Tuesday, cousins Richard and Resty Dacal-Dacal were arrested by operatives of Sagay City Police Station.
Last Monday, Gilbert Manija and Armando Dilao surrendered to Sagay City Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva and Councilor Donato Marañon. The day before, Rey Villanueva also surrendered to Cueva and Marañon, and was turned over to the Sagay Police.
Last Saturday, four other escapees were arrested in a house in Hacienda Balbina Brgy. Rafaela Barrera in Sagay City. They were Joemar Libester, with rape case; Jimmy Vistar, with murder case; Joenard Quirante, with murder case; and Jolito Subteniente, 26, with murder case, according to a report of the Sagay City police.
Two other inmates were recaptured at a bus terminal in Cadiz City at about 5 p.m. last Friday. They were Bajo, who was said to have masterminded the escape, and Jeck Española. (FREEMAN)
