62 farmers finish corn production training

HILONGOS, LEYTE, Philippines --- A total of 62 farmers of this town completed their training on Corn-based Production System for Sustainable Agricultural Development conducted here recently, under the Farmer-Scientist RDE Training Program (FSTP).

FSTP leader from UP-Los Baños, Dr. Romulo Davide, said the training helped the farmers gain more knowledge and develop skills on scientific and technical aspects in farming.

Farmers will learn teamwork and cooperation, said Davide as he cited the importance of farming and their important role in sustaining the needs of the community. Application and knowledge of basic techniques and advance technologies will help farmers a lot in increasing production of corn, rice and other crops, he said.

Mayor Jose Emery Roble, for his part, assured the farmers of his administration's support for the FSTP to help them achieve its goals. (FREEMAN)
