ILOILO CITY, Philippines   â€” Less than a month after 82 provincial guards of the Iloilo Provincial Government were pulled out from the Iloilo Provincial Integrated Jail (IPIJ) in Brgy. Nanga, Pototan, Iloilo, two inmates were able to escape early morning of last Wednesday.

Escapees were identified as Jonathan Bedia of Brgy. Rosario, Dumangas and Willie Lopez of Brgy. Liboo, Dingle, Iloilo.

Zamora said Bedia was only found missing after the headcount of inmates in cell brigade-2 while Lopez was also went missing in brigade 5.

Zamora asked the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-6 to conduct an independent investigation to determine how the two managed to escape from jail and if they were in cahoots with some jail officers.  (FREEMAN)
