Comelec appoints OIC for Negros Or.
DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines – The Comelec has named Juvenal Tuale the OIC provincial election supervisor of Negros Oriental, replacing Eddie Aba who will be assigned to Cebu.
The Comelec memorandum, sent via fax on Thursday, said Tuale will assume his post in Negros Oriental on Monday while Aba will report to the Cebu office.
Aba also made the announcement during a coordinating meeting of the Diocesan Electoral Board (DEB) on Thursday when he introduced Tuale to the members of the body.
Earlier, the Comelec had eyed Jerome Brillantes to the Negros Oriental post but the reshuffling of election officers in the province scheduled originally January 21st was suspended.
Aba, in an interview after the DEB meeting, explained that Comelec Commissioner Sixto Brillantes had decided not to push ahead with Jerome’s appointment as OIC provincial election supervisor of Negros Oriental after it was ascertained that both were somehow related, apart from carrying the same family name.
Besides, Tuale was the most senior lawyer among the election officers in the province and has a track record, having been appointed to previous positions, including his being OIC regional director of Comelec-7.
Speaking to the DEB, Tuale expressed optimism that the May 13 mid-term polls in the province will be honest, peaceful and orderly. (FREEMAN)
